HC Deb 21 March 1974 vol 870 cc160-1W
Mr. Biggs-Davison

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs whether he will make a statement on the Geneva Conference on the Rules of War.

Mr. Ennals

The Diplomatic Conference on Humanitarian Law in Armed Conflict, for which the preparatory work was carried out under the auspices of the International Committee of the Red Cross, was convened in Geneva by the Swiss Government to supplement and update the provisions of the four Geneva conventions of 1949 by the addition of two protocols. This is an endeavour which Her Majesty's Government support, and a United Kingdom delegation is participating fully in the conference which began on 20th February and continues until 29th March 1974.
