HC Deb 20 March 1974 vol 870 c120W
Mrs. Chalker

asked the Secretary of State for Defence what plans he has to strengthen the security services supporting the actions of Her Majesty's Forces stationed in Northern Ireland.

Mr. William Rodgers

We attach importance to giving the greatest possible support to the forces serving in Northern Ireland. High priority is given to the development of the necessary skills and equipment to enable troops to operate effectively with as little risk to their lives as possible. Careful training programmes are drawn up for this purpose, having regard to the need to protect lives at all times.
