asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how long the detention in Her Majesty's prison has lasted for the Commonwealth citizen who has been detained the longest awaiting a decision as to whether or not he shall be deported.

Since 31st December 1973: he was convicted of an offence under the Immigration Act 1971, and his appeal to a higher court is still outstanding.
