Mr. Ted Fletcher

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment (1) on what date the inspector's report was submitted to his office arising from the public inquiry into the application of the Darlington Borough Council for listed building consent and compulsory purchase order on 5th June 1973;

(2) if he will take steps to ensure that a decision is given without delay arising from the public local inquiry held on 5th June 1973 into the application of the Darlington Borough Council for listed building consent and compulsory purchase order in connection with town centre development.

The inspector's report was received on 8th August 1973. I expect to be able to give a decision very soon.
