HC Deb 19 March 1974 vol 870 c67W
37. Mr. Rose

asked the Secretary of State for Defence whether he will reconsider the purchasing policy of Her Majesty's Government in relation to wire-guided missiles in order to place such orders with British firms.

Mr. William Rodgers

Our present purchasing policy for wire-guided missiles, as for Service equipment generally, is to place orders with British firms, unless there is some overriding operational or economic advantage in making a particular purchase overseas. The main wire-guided system currently in use by our Army is the British Swingfire system.
