HC Deb 19 March 1974 vol 870 cc80-1W
Mr. Adley

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if it remains the policy of his Department, as stated in December 1968, that development on the site at Highcliffe Castle, Hampshire, will continue to be safeguarded.

Mr. John Silkin

Highcliffe Castle is still listed as a building of special architectural or historic interest. Listed building consent must therefore be obtained before the building can be demolished or before alterations or extensions which will affect its character as a building of special architectural or historic interest can be carried out.

It is for the local planning authority to consider any application for planning permission.
