HC Deb 18 March 1974 vol 870 cc47-8W
Mr. Douglas Henderson

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will state Her Majesty's Government's view on the extension of Scottish fishing limits.

Mr. William Ross

Fishing limits around Scotland are part of the wider question of United Kingdom fishery limits as a whole, which is under study in preparation for the United Nations Conference on the Law of the Sea later this year.

Mr. MacCormick

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what consultations have taken place and are planned with Scottish fishing interests in relation to the submissions to be made at the forthcoming Law of the Sea Conference.

Mr. William Ross

The working group representing the Scottish fishery interests has met twice since its formation last year. Further meetings will be arranged as necessary in order to ensure that the views of the fishing industry are fully taken into account in determining United Kingdom policy at the conference.
