Mr. Edward Taylorasked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will make a statement on the grants which he will make available to local authorities to compensate them for the loss of rent income following the freeze on council rents.
§ Mr. William RossI have informed Scottish local authorities that I intend to compensate them for the major part of the loss of income arising from the rents standstill between 8th March and 31st December 1974. The detailed arrangements for grant—which require legislation—are now being worked out.
