HC Deb 18 March 1974 vol 870 cc54-5W
Mr. Geraint Morgan

asked the Secretary of State for Wales (1) whether he will review as a matter of urgency the proposal to abandon a section of the A55 trunk road now under course of construction at Llanddulas, Denbighshire, in favour of a parallel route, the implementation of which would involve considerable destruction and blighting of property;

(2) whether he will favourably consider either the retention and completion of that section of the A55 trunk road presently under construction at Llanddulas, Denbighshire, or, if that is not possible, the adoption of an alternative route, already considered by his Department, which would involve the construction of a bridge but would obviate the destruction of property.

Mr. John Morris

I expect to publish shortly my formal draft proposals under the Highways Acts 1959–71 for the line of a new length of the A55 trunk road between Llanddulas and Aber. This will give interested persons the opportunity to object to the route and to suggest alternatives. Pending the satisfactory completion of these statutory procedures no construction work has been or will be undertaken on this new length of road.
