HC Deb 28 June 1974 vol 875 c61W
Sir P. Bryan

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment when he now expects the York bypass to be completed.

Mr. Carmichael

In about 18 months' time.

Sir P. Bryan

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what will be the cost of repairing the damage to the the road between Norton and Butter-crambe by the heavy lorries carrying road-building material from the Whitewall Quarry, Norton, to the York bypass now in the course of construction.

Mr Carmichael

This is primarily a matter for the North Yorkshire County Council as highway authority. The council has written to the Department on the subject, but the extent of any liability upon the Department has not yet been determined.
