HC Deb 28 June 1974 vol 875 c11W
Mr. Albert Roberts

asked the Secretary of State for Trade if he will give an estimate of the present-day cost of constructing a transcontinental airport with full facilities comparable to Manchester airport, and of the length of time it would take to construct such an airport.

Mr. Clinton Davis

No estimate is available of the cost of building a new airport comparable to Manchester airport, but it could approach £100 million at present-day prices. It could take up to 10 years to provide.
