HC Deb 28 June 1974 vol 875 c13W
Mr. Bishop

asked the Attorney-General whether he is aware that 10 men and five women were members on the most recent available date of statutory boards to which he makes appointments; and if he will bear in mind Her Majesty's Government's policy regarding equality of opportunity for both sexes and the contribution which women can make when he appoints members to such boards.

The Attorney-General

Neither my noble Friend the Lord Chancellor nor I are responsible for making appointments to statutory boards. When we are making judicial or other legal appointments women of suitable experience and ability are invariably considered.
