HC Deb 28 June 1974 vol 875 cc42-3W
Mr. Tierney

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if, within the present concept of the reorganised health service, there is any plan to develop further general hospital facilities for the general public in the East Birmingham-Solihull area.

Dr. Owen

The improvement and development of health services for East Birmingham is the responsibility of the Birmingham Area Health Authority (Teaching) and for Solihull, Solihull Area Health Authority. Development of the East Birmingham District General Hospital is proceeding currently and includes provision of treatment and diagnostic facilities and residential accommodation. It has been the policy of the regional authority that, in the longer term, there should be development of general hospital services at Solihull; no timing of the development can currently be given.
