§ Dr. Boysonasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science if he will intervene under Section 68 of the 1944 Act in the NAS/UWT dispute with the Governors of the Sacred Heart School, Redcar.
§ Mr. PrenticeSection 68 empowers me to give directions where I am satisfied that a local education authority or governors have acted or were proposing to act unreasonably with respect to the exercise of any power conferred or the performance of any duty imposed by or under the Education Act 1944. I do not consider that the powers conferred by this section are exercisable in relation to the Sacred Heart School dispute.
