§ 32. Mr. Charles Morrisonasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what action he proposes to safeguard British honey production, given the current high cost of sugar for bees.
§ Mr. BuchanI accept that any increase in the price of sugar will to some extent affect the cost of producing honey. However only 1 per cent. of our beekeepers are commercial honey producers, and British honey commands a substantial price premium over imported honey. I see no immediate cause for concern.
