HC Deb 26 June 1974 vol 875 c489W
Mr. Carter-Jones

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if she will reconsider the earnings rule of£4.50 per week for disabled people on invalidity pensions; if she is aware of the hardship which can be caused by this rule; and if she will make a statement.

Mr. Christopher Price

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services when she hopes to raise the level of disregards for those in receipt of invalidity pensions.

Mr. Alfred Morris

The requirement that net earnings should not ordinarily exceed£4.50 per week is one aspect of the assessment of incapacity for work. But as my hon. Friends will be aware, cash provision for disabled people who are working is within the terms of reference of my right hon. Friend's review under Section 36 of the Social Security Act 1973.
