asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what plans he has to safeguard parental choice of denomination and of single sex education under his policy of universal comprehensive secondary schooling.

As was made clear in Circular 4/74, my right hon. Friend will expect local education authorities to consult parents while proposals for reorganisation are being formulated, and to have due regard to parents' wishes in respect of their children's education, for example, at denominational schools where these are available.
