§ Mr. O'MalleyUnder the provisions of the Social Security Act 1973 the rate at which increments are awarded where retirement is deferred will, from April 1975, be increased to one-eighth of 1 per cent. of the pension rate for each week of pension forgone. This, on a pension of £10 a week, is equivalent to an extra lop a week for each eight weeks of deferred retirement. Under the formula in the Act the increment rates will therefore increase as the pension rate increases; and increments already awarded will also be increased in line with pensions.
