HC Deb 24 June 1974 vol 875 c352W
Mr. Roderick

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what is the present average waiting time for the issue of driving licences and vehicle licences from the Department's offices at Swansea.

Mr. Adam Butler

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what is the average delay time in issuing driving licences; and what steps he is taking to improve this situation.

Mr. Carmichael

The average time taken to deal with applications for driving licences is six to seven working days. The driver and vehicle licensing centre is constantly reviewing and improving its procedures in order to reduce delays in the really difficult cases to which I referred in my Written Answer of 19th June to the hon. Member for Tynemouth (Mr. Trotter). Vehicle licences are not yet issued centrally.
