HC Deb 24 June 1974 vol 875 c330W
Mr. Anthony Grant

asked the Minister for the Civil Service how many generators were available to run Government computers in February 1974; how many are available now or at the latest convenient date; what instructions have been issued by the Government as to the use of these generators; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Robert Sheldon

In February 1974, 40 generators were installed at Government computer installations. Currently a further six could be made available provided there were no demands of higher priority from other parts of the public sector. No special instructions have been issued regarding the use of these generators except that local DoE engineers have been instructed to run them in the event of failure of the mains supplies.
