Mr. McCusker

asked the Secretary of State for Defence if he will describe the uniform which is standard issue to civilian armed patrolmen at MOD (Army) establishments.

Mr. William Rodgers

The uniform issued to civilian patrolmen employed in the Ministry of Defence throughout the whole of the United Kingdom is as follows:

  • Peaked cap.
  • Jacket (blue serge) (2),
  • Trousers (blue serge) (2),
  • Greatcoat,
  • Boots or shoes,
  • Waterproof clothing is also available.
  • In Northern Ireland armed patrolmen are also issued with bullet-proof vests.

asked the Secretary of State for Defence what is the weekly rate of pay paid to civilian armed patrolmen at MOD (Army) establishments in Northern Ireland, and the rate paid to similar patrolmen in other areas of the United Kingdom.

The basic weekly rate of pay of civilian armed patrolmen at Ministry of Defence establishments in Northern Ireland is £23.53. No armed patrolmen are employed by the Department in other areas of United Kingdom. The national rate of pay for civilian patrolmen is £23.28.
