Mr. Dalyell

asked the Secretary of State for Defence if he will make a statement on his talks with Lee Kuan Yew about British forces in Singapore.

The Prime Minister of Singapore had talks recently with a number of Her Majesty's Ministers. My conversations with him on 18th June covered, amongst other things, the British military presence in Singapore; and was in part a continuation of Mr. Lee's discussions in Singapore last month with the Minister of State for Defence.
