§ Mr. Kenneth Clarkeasked the Minister of Overseas Development what amounts of aid the European Community proposes to offer to Lebanon, Syria, Jordan and Egypt in the present negotiations with those countries; and what proposals she has put to the EEC Council of Ministers on this subject.
§ Mr. William PriceThe Community is not at present discussing aid questions with the countries of the eastern Mediterranean. My right hon. Friend indicated to the Development Council on 30th April, and reiterated last week, that she is seeking a more balanced distribution of Community aid, on a world-wide basis, according to need. Any proposals for Community aid to Lebanon, Syria, Jordan and Egypt would require examination in this context.
