Mr. Burden

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what is the number of people on hospital waiting lists per 1,000 of the population in the Medway towns; and how this compares with the national average.

Dr. Owen

The number of people on hospital waiting lists per 1,000 of the population in the Medway towns at 31st December 1973 was 5.6. The national average was 10.9.

Mr. Burden

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what is the average length of waiting lists for the admission for non-emergency cases in the Medway towns; and to what extent there has been a change over the last five years.
