asked the Secretary of State for Industry if he will make a further statement regarding his consideration of requests for financial support from public funds for Triumph Motor Cycles and a newspaper to be launched by former employees of Beaverbrook Newspapers in Scotland, respectively.

At the meeting which my right hon. Friend held on the 13th June with representatives of all those involved in the plan for the creation of a workers co-operative at Meriden questions remaining to be resolved were identified and discussions between the parties concerned are continuing. My Department is currently assessing the application by former employees of Beaverbrook Newspapers in Glasgow for assistance under Section 7 of the Industry Act 1972 towards a new newspaper.
