guards are not responsible for security at the Palace of Westminster. Negotiations for the 1974 pay review covering the whole of the Civil Service, including the custody guards, have reached an advanced stage and unions concerned are now considering an offer which has been made to them. Meanwhile an agreement has been reached on a threshold payment of £1.20 per week.
