HL Deb 19 June 1974 vol 352 c1029WA
LORD TREFGARNE

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they will confirm that the B.B.C.'s UHF television transmitter located in the Isle of Wight is so constructed as to prevent reception of its signals in the Channel Islands.

THE MINISTER OF STATE, HOME OFFICE (LORD HARRIS OF GREENWICH)

The aerials at the B.B.C.'s UHF television transmitting station at Rowbridge in the Isle of Wight were designed from the outset to restrict the power transmitted in a southerly direction to avoid harmful interference to the French television service.
