§ Mr. Shersbyasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will arrange for all future statistics collected on sugar imports to differentiate between food and non-food users.
§ Mr. BuchanThis would be impracticable, because imports of sugar may pass through several hands before reaching their ultimate destination and may first be refined or subject to other processing. My Department is, however, aware of the approximate quantities of sugar, whether imported or home-produced, which are used in compound animal feed, by bee-keepers, and in the manufacture of the chemical and industrial products listed in EEC Regulation 765/68.
