HC Deb 18 June 1974 vol 875 cc138-9W
Mr. Ancram

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether he is satisfied with the law relating to the remuneration of solicitors under the legal aid scheme in the High Court of Justiciary; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. William Ross

Solicitors' fees for work in the High Court of Justiciary are governed by rules made by the High Court in 1964 and amended from time to time. Proposals for changes in the arrangements relating to these fees are a matter for discussion among the High Court, the Law Society of Scotland and the Government Departments concerned, including my Department. This seems to me to be entirely appropriate.
