HC Deb 18 June 1974 vol 875 cc136-7W
Mr. Donald Stewart

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland when he will announce plans for funding the new regional authorities in Scotland.

Mr. William Ross

Under the Local Government (Scotland) Act, 1973, the expenses of the new regional, islands and districts councils will be met initially by contributions from the existing local authorities, and—mainly—from rates and grants after they become fully operational in May 1975.
