HC Deb 18 June 1974 vol 875 c125W
Mr. Grylls

asked the Secretary of State for Energy if he will make a statement with regard to the research being carried out into the further development of insulation for the conservation of energy.

Mr. Strang

Most research into the development of insulation is being carried out by manufacturers. Whilst new and more effective materials are being developed these are not always competitive economically with existing forms of insulation. I believe that at the present time more effective use of the existing types of insulation is the most rewarding line to take. The improvement of existing standards of thermal insulation, both in the industrial and domestic sector is being considered by the Government.
