asked the Secretary of State for Wales which local authorities in Wales have purchased houses from the private sector during the last two months.

So far eight local authorities have approached me for approval to purchase houses from the private sector. I have approved applications from Llanelli District Council, Lliw Valley Borough Council, Newport Borough Council, Swansea County Council and Torfaen Borough Council. The other applications are still being considered. I hope that the local authorities will rapidly convert the approvals into purchases.
