HC Deb 18 June 1974 vol 875 c135W
Mr. MacCormick

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he is satisfied that the law at present provides sufficient protection for the fish farming industry in Scotland.

Mr. William Ross

I am aware that fish farmers are unable, under present law, to obtain exclusive rights to an area of sea, but legislation to restrict public rights of fishing and access would be controversial. I have invited representatives of the industry to give their views on what changes in the law would be desirable and practical.
