Mr. Blaker

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what was the weighted average of percentage growth in the gross domestic product of the EEC countries in 1972; and what was the comparable figure for 1973.

The weighted average of GDP in the nine EEC countries increased by 3.7 per cent. between 1971 and 1972. Full figures for 1973 are not yet available. But the provisional estimate for the GDP rise between 1972 and 1973 for the EEC as a whole is 5.5 per cent.
