HC Deb 18 June 1974 vol 875 c111W
Mr. Churchill

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department following the recent IRA funeral demonstration in London, what evidence was discovered that persons seeking to board Dublin-bound aeroplanes at Heathrow Airport were in possession of ammunition; and what action was taken by the police.

Mr. Roy Jenkins

I understand that a passenger travelling to Dublin on 9th June voluntarily surrendered to a civilian security officer one cartridge case and one live round, which were then handed to the police. It appeared that the passenger had no connection with the funeral. The police were satisfied that he did not have the ammunition for an unlawful purpose and they therefore took no action.
