HC Deb 14 June 1974 vol 874 c653W
Mrs. Chalker

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what medical complaints prevent a student from taking up a place on a teacher training course.

Mr. Gerry Fowler

At present active pulmonary tuberculosis or psychiatric illness is a bar to entry to teacher training courses and epilepsy to entry to specialist courses of physical education. Any other medical condition is considered in the light of its severity and the particular circumstances of the individual student concerned.
