Mr. Tebbit

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he has given financial sanction to the London borough of Waltham Forest for the expenditure of £1.98 million for the purchase of 106 units of accommodation at Kings Head Hill, E.4, from Royco Developers at a cost approaching £19,000 per unit.

Approval for the purchase of this housing scheme has been given. I cannot comment on the financial statistics cited by the hon. Member since the negotiations are not yet completed.
