§ 29. Mr. Churchillasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what is his estimate of the additional cost to ratepayers in the United Kingdom in the financial year 1974–75 in consequence of increased fuel, postal, telephone, and electricity charges and other price increases announced in the Budget.
§ Mr. Joel BarnettThe increases in coal, electricity, postal, telecommunications and rail charges to which my right hon. Friend referred in the Budget are forecast to yield about £900 million in 1974–75 and the increased steel prices about £280 million. I have no information on the cost to ratepayers.
