HC Deb 13 June 1974 vol 874 cc632-3W
Mr. MacCormick

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland, in view of his responsibilities for the National Health Service in Scotland, if he will make it his policy that the Central Midwives Board for Scotland should not be incorporated in a central committee covering the whole of Great Britain.

Mr. William Ross

The Government have accepted in principle the Briggs recommendation for a revised structure of the statutory bodies, but there will be discussion with the existing statutory bodies, including the Central Midwives Board for Scotland, and professional organisations about the respective functions of the proposed central council and the three national education boards.
