HC Deb 13 June 1974 vol 874 c639W
Mr. Thorpe

asked the Secretary of State for Trade whether his Department proposes to make further grants to the hotel industry in order to assist it to raise overall standards.

Mr. Deakins

The final payments out of assistance tailored particularly to this end and expected to total approximately £60 million will shortly be made under the Hotel Development Incentive Scheme which, under the terms of the Development of Tourism Act 1969, ran to 31st March 1973. However, more limited funds are still available under Section 4 of the Act and applications for assistance from these funds can be considered by the National Tourist Boards on a case-by-case basis from the hotel industry in development areas.
