HC Deb 13 June 1974 vol 874 c605W
41. Mr. Douglas Henderson

asked the Secretary of State for Energy if he will extend his freeze on gas price increases in Scotland's case until such time as the present differential in domestic gas prices between Scotland and England is eradicated.

Mr. Strang

No. The request to British Gas to refrain from seeking a price increase for the time being related to counter-inflation policy, not to tariff formulation, which is a matter for the corporation. I am asking the Chairman of British Gas to write to the hon. Member about the level of domestic prices in Scotland.
