§ Mr. Trotterasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food whether he will make a statement on the current position with regard to the proposed new fish quay at North Shields and the Government's commitment to grant aid for this project.
§ Mr. BuchanI understand that the Port of Tyne Authority is at present in consultation with the new metropolitan district of North Tyneside following local government reorganisation as the scheme is to some extent dependent on their cooperation. Certain statutory consents are also necessary. We await further information before deciding, having regard to the need for constraint on public expenditure, whether to grant-aid the scheme.
