asked the Secretary of State for Defense what are the average age and highest age of the vessels currently being operated by the Royal Naval Reserve; and what proposals he has to replace them with new vessels.

17.5 years and 20 years respectively. These "Ton" class vessels are planned to remain in service until the 1980s: the options for their replacement are under consideration.
