Mr. Higgins

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he has completed his consideration of the accuracy of the figures given in the Financial Statement concerning the product of increasing basic and higher rates of taxation; and if he will publish in the OFFICIAL REPORT any necessary corrections.

Certain estimates in the Financial Statement and Budget Report which were based on provisional information have now been completed on a final basis and some of the figures have been slightly revised. The revisions affect only the estimates for income tax changes. The revised section of Table 16 of the Financial Statement is shown below. The total effect of the changes is to increase estimated revenue by £23 million in 1974–75 and by £14 million in a full year.
