HC Deb 11 June 1974 vol 874 cc534-5W
Mr. Hill

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will move for the appointment of a Select Committee to investigate the conditions of work and pay of those employed by the British tea companies in Sri Lanka.

Mr. Ennals

I do not think a Select Committee would serve a useful purpose. I have given careful study to the War on Want report on "The State of Tea" and have discussed some of the problems involved with representatives of the British tea companies.
