HC Deb 10 June 1974 vol 874 cc409-10W
Mr. Hooley

asked the Secretary of State for Industry if he will examine the consequences for Rolls-Royce (1971) Limited with respect to the TriStar contract of the take-over of a 45 per cent. share of Lockheed by another United States company; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Benn

I am continuing to keep in close touch with the various interests involved in the United States of America and, of course, with Rolls-Royce (1971) Ltd. The conditional agreement announced on 3rd June 1974 by the Lockheed and Textron Boards is intended to ensure the longer-term finances of Lockheed and hence the TriStar with Rolls-Royce RB211 engines.
