§ Mr. BuchanThe National Food Survey results for the year 1973 indicate that the average weekly consumption of cheese by a family of two adults and one or two children was 3.53 oz. per head; the equivalent figure for a retirement pensioner was 4.46 oz.
§ Mr. Michael Lathamasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what are the countries of origin of each of the following imported cheeses now eligible for cheese subsidy: Elbo, Danbo, Havarti, Samsoe, Maribo, Tybo and St. Paulin.
§ Mr. BuchanThe first six cheeses are normally produced in Denmark and the last-named in France.

§ Mr. BuchanBy 5th June, 16 importers of the named cheeses had been registered to claim the subsidy. So far, £59,790 has been paid. Payments are made as soon as possible after the receipt of claims.

§ Mr. BuchanBy 5th June, five manufacturers had been registered as claimants for the subsidy on White Stilton. No claims for subsidy on this variety had 451W been received by that date. Payments will be made as soon as possible after the receipt f claims.
§ Mr. Michael Lathamasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food how many manufacturers and importers have been identified to date as eligible for cheese subsidy; and whether steps have been taken to ensure that all eligible persons are aware of the procedures for claiming the subsidy.
§ Mr. BuchanBy 5th June, 37 manufacturers and 35 importers had been identified as eligible to claim the subsidy. Press notices were issued by the Ministry and the Department of Prices and Consumer Protection. All manufacturers and importers known to the Ministry and the trade associations have been notified individually of the procedures for claiming the subsidy.
§ Mr. Michael Lathamasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food how frequently manufacturers and importers of subsidised cheeses are being paid the subsidy of £105 per ton; and how many payments have been made to date.
§ Mr. BuchanManufacturers and importers who have been registered as claimants are free to claim the subsidy at weekly or four-weekly intervals. Payments are made as soon as possible after the receipt of claims. So far, 39 payments have been made.
