§ Mr. David Youngasked the Secretary of State for the Environment (1) if he will indicate when a decision will be made on the confirmation of the compulsory purchase order on the Blackburn Road bypass in Bolton;
(2) if he will visit Bolton to assess for himself the effects of the delay in the confirmation of the compulsory purchase order on the Blackburn Road bypass on local residents.
§ Mr. CarmichaelThe compulsory purchase order for the Blackburn Road bypass is still being considered and a decision will be given as soon as possible.
My right hon. Friend appreciates the difficulties of the situation, and a visit would not, therefore, be helpful.
