HC Deb 10 June 1974 vol 874 cc408-9W
Mr. Wigley

asked the Secretary of State for Industry how many advance factories are currently available for letting in Gwynedd and in the whole of Wales, respectively; how many new advance factories are currently being built; and if he is satisfied that there is enough advance factory space in Gwynedd to meet the requirements of potential factory developments.

Mr. Heffer

No advance factories are currently available for letting in Gwynedd. Elsewhere in Wales five are available and negotiations are proceeding with prospective tenants for three of them. Four advance factories are under construction in Wales; one of these is a factory for multi-occupation in Gwynedd. A further 11 advance factories are at the planning stage; one is to be a factory for multi-occupation in Gwynedd. The needs of Gwynedd for further advance factories will be taken into account when the next advance factory programme is considered.

Mr. Gwynoro Jones

asked the Secretary of State for Industry how many advance factories have been allocated to Wales since 1964, giving the number that have been built and occupied, and those that are built but untenanted.

Mr. Gregor Mackenzie

Since November 1964, 83 advance factories have been authorised for Wales. Of these, 61 are occupied. Of the remaining 22, seven are unoccupied, though two of the seven are formally allocated and negotiations are proceeding with prospective tenants for three. Four advance factories are under construction and a further 11 are at the planning stage.
