§ Mr. John MorrisMy hon. Friend the Minister for Housing and Construction and I are in consultation with the local authority associations on this matter. The consultation document outlining the proposals was placed in the Vote Office yesterday. It proposes the discontinuing of the existing rent-fixing procedures, the giving to local authorities of much wider freedom to fix the rents of their dwellings, and the recasting of the housing subsidy arrangements. My hon. Friend the Minister for Housing and Construction and I will be bringing forward legislative proposals as soon as possible.
